MIAMI -- Lindsay Lohan was being treated at a hospital for an asthma attack, her publicist said Tuesday.
"She is resting comfortably," spokeswoman Leslie Sloane Zelnick said.
Zelnick said that though Lohan is currently still under observation, the actress hopes to be out of the hospital by Wednesday.
The 19-year-old actress and pop star who grew up on Long Island was in Miami visiting family for the New Year and experienced breathing difficulties in her hotel room late Monday, People magazine reported.
Lohan had hosted a New Year's Eve party at a Miami club on Saturday.
The "Herbie: Fully Loaded" star's health woes aren't expected to delay production on "Chapter 27," in which Lohan plays a fictional character who befriends Mark Chapman (Jared Leto) in the days before he assassinated John Lennon.
After becoming a Disney darling with films like "Freaky Friday," Lohan is shifting into indie mode for 2006. In addition to "Chapter 27," her upcoming films include co-starring roles in Robert Altman's "A Prairie Home Companion" and Emilio Estevez's low budget passion project "Bobby."
She recently released her sophomore album, "A Little More Personal (Raw)."
